ABOUT ME? THIS IS ABOUT YOUR CHILD

Hi, I’m Batsheva.
And here’s what I believe about your child:

Every child has the potential to thrive. Yours too.

Somewhere underneath their struggle is a skill that hasn’t been built yet.

Finding it — and filling the gap — is what I’m here for.

Why I opened Cobalt Coaching

I’m Batsheva Mandelbaum, a board-certified behavior analyst.

For more than six years, I’ve worked with children and families in schools, homes, and clinics. From preschool through high school, different diagnoses, personalities, strengths, and challenges — I’ve seen it.

I’ve supervised and trained other BCBAs, too, in clinical supervision and development roles.

But I wanted to help children (and their parents) more directly

My work in ABA gave me a strong foundation in understanding behavior and teaching skills. At the same time, the more I supervised, assessed, and wrote plans, the more I wanted to be the one in the room.

I also wanted to make this support available to families who don't necessarily have a diagnosis or qualify for traditional ABA services.

Cobalt gives me the opportunity to do that.

Cobalt starts with “co” for a reason

So much of this work happens through the relationship between people.

A child needs to feel understood. A parent needs to feel supported. The adults in a child's life need to be able to communicate and work together.

That's the “co” in Cobalt — child, parent, and me, working on the same problem.

What changed when I started Cobalt?

I’m the one in the room.

There’s no handoff, no plan written by one person and carried out by another.

That’s a big part of how I learn what your child needs, and continuously tailor our sessions for maximum effectiveness. I’m constantly adjusting based on what I see — what happened, what helped, what made it worse. When we check in, we’re working from the same baseline because I see your child firsthand.

VALUES

A few things I’m sure of:

Build skills; behavior follows.
When a child is struggling, I want to understand what skills they need to learn. I break down the skills so progress carries across different situations, as opposed to just managing the moment.
Parents know the child best.
You know your child in a way that no professional ever could. I bring my experience and recommendations, then we figure out together what will work for your family.
Every child is a world.
I don’t expect every child to respond to the same approach. I take the time to understand how your child communicates, what motivates them, and where they need support.
Speak to the child — not over them.
I speak directly to the children I work with. Building a genuine connection with a child isn't separate from the work. It is part of how I learn what they need.
